Don't give out peronal information.

One of the biggest things to remember online is to never give out your personal information. While you may make many friends, you will not be friends with everyone you meet. Not a lot of sites will tell you this because it's not the most popular thing to do, but when it comes to your safety especially when it can get into the real world, its something to keep a protective mind to.

Don't fall for any tricks, or click any links that come from strangers. We know you and your friends will share social links to some degree, but just be forewarned that being proactive about your personal information is the only thing that can stop anyone with malicious intentions from accessing your identity.

Don't post social links publically

As we mentioned, we know everyone is going to share their social links at one point or another, while that's sometimes a problem, we completely get it. You make friends, and you want to stay connected. Social media while being one just another platform, has proved that it's one of the strongest out there. Multiple social media platforms have high uptime which means peope will use it because of that.

So how do you find a perfect balance? Do you have a burner social media account? If you do, it's probably a better idea to use one of those than to expose your real information to unknown parties.

Don't give out phone numbers

One thing you should always remember is that your phone number in 2024 is almost like your social security number. Giving out your phone number can help spoofers and scammers from the darkest places on the web to use your information to spam others or to sign up for random different spam sites. It's best to never give out your phone number.

So what do I do?

It's pretty simple, if anyone asks you too personal of questions right off the go, just know thats a red flag. There are red flags online almost everywhere. You have to learn to identify those situations and deflect them. Sometimes simply ignoring or just not engaging seem to work best.
